First joint PhD degree in pioneering project between AAU and AfricaLics
On Tuesday 10th January, 2017, the very first joint degree of the AfricaLics Visiting PhD Fellowship Programme successfully defended his PhD thesis at the department of Business and Management at Aalborg University as part of an institutional agreement between AAU and Adama Science and Technology University in Ethiopia regarding collaboration on education of PhD students.
The AfricaLics Visiting PhD Fellowship Programme is a joint activity between AfricaLics (www.africalics.org) represented by the secretariat at ACTS in Nairobi and the Department of Business and Management at AAU. The aim is to contribute to the creation of a vibrant network of highly trained researchers in Africa capable of analyzing and advising on key innovation and development issues affecting their home countries and the region as a whole. Abdi Yuya Ahmad was a participant in the first batch of AfricaLics PhD visiting fellows (2015) and the first participant in this programme to be offered to finalize his PhD as a joint PhD with AAU.
AfricaLics receives financial support from the Swedish Development Agency (Sida). It is expected that a call for the next batch of PhD visiting fellows (2018) will be published in March/April 2017.
